1,538 new summer staffers this year makes room for 1,538 new uniquely hilarious camp names! This serious fun happens when each of our new staffers experience one of our favorite traditions: The Name Game! The Name Game is a time for new staffers to introduce themselves, and things tend to get personal (and sometimes pretty whacky)! Take a look at some of our favorite name game stories that were told this summer.

At the Towers, a staffer told the crowd that he loved the animated character Vector from “Despicable Me” (whose slogan is “Oh yeah!”). Also, the staffer’s favorite ice cream flavor is chocolate chip cookie dough. Put those two things together, and you get “Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Yeah!”

One staffer talked about how much he loved golf during his name game, and even showed the crowd his golf swing! Other fun facts about him? He goes to LSU and told the crowd how he loves to boogie… Introducing… “Tiger Boogs!”

Some staffers end up naming themselves! This typically happens when the staffer says something shocking or hilarious (or both!), which typically causes the room to go crazy screaming, “Sell it!” An example of this? A counselor at the Towers was telling the crowd how a goat ate her Pine Cove jibbit off of her Croc. Her new name? “A Goat Ate My Pine Cove Jibbit!” This also happened at the Shores when a staffer seemed to always be starting her answers with, “Lowkey, yeah.” Add that to the fact that her favorite hype song is “Yeah!” by Usher, and you get a staffer named “Lowkey, Yeah!”

One staffer grew up in Louisiana and absolutely loves Cajun food. Add that to the fact that he enjoys working out and you get “Gym-Brolaya!”

What happens when you come to camp with a love for sugar and history, and share a story that has to do with the Treaty of Versailles? You become “Sweet Treaty of Versaille!”

One staffer at the Shores grew up wanting to become a chef and almost enrolled in culinary school, but instead he’s now in seminary. You can address all of his letters to “Stir Fry Rabbi!”

Some camp names have a way of turning a not-so-great situation into a hilarious name! A girl staffer happened to be her high school’s mascot (an eagle) and was fully dressed in her mascot attire when she got into a car accident! When the police got to the scene, she ended up changing out of her costume. The police asked, “Where’d That Bird Go?” Little did they know that phrase would become her camp name!

One staffer plays soccer and loves the New York Times game Wordle! Also, one of her favorite songs is “Around the World” by Justin Bieber. Put all of that together and you get, “Ball Around The Worldle!”

At the Bluffs, a staffer told a story about an unfortunate skiing accident where she ended up breaking her collar bone! Her new name for the summer? “Iron Collar Bone!”

A guy staffer at Crier Creek was asked, “If you could have a store and sell anything, what would you sell?” His response was, “Just Straight Milk.” The crowd went wild and that became his name!

One of our new favorite names from the Ridge is “Craigslist Kitty Pool.” It’s a multi-tiered name that starts with the staffer telling a story about buying a chicken off of Craigslist to put it in her friend’s shower as a prank! She also loves the movie “Monsters, Inc.,” especially when Boo calls Sully, “Kitty.” “Pool” comes from when she was younger and would beg her parents for a pool, to the point where she would fill up a storage container with water and sit in it! She might not have gotten a pool, but she sure got a clever camp name!

Let us know some of your favorite camp names, and stay tuned for more!
