3 Reasons To Pack For Camp In A Trunk!

On opening day at camp, you’re sure to see some rectangle boxes flying around property! You might be thinking to yourself, “Self, what are those things? Can’t campers just use a suitcase or duffle bag?” We’re here to share with you three reasons why you might want to consider packing in a trunk (like this one!) for your next Pine Cove adventure!

Convenience

Remember the Staples button that would say, “That was easy,” each time you pressed it? Yeah, that’s what we’re going for here. These hard boxes can fit a whole plethora of clothes, journals, chicken costumes, boomerangs, and goggles! When it comes to packing for camp, we’ve got your back with a handy dandy packing list. Bonus tip—separate each outfit into a gallon-sized zipper bag so that you don’t have to go digging for what to wear! 

Even better? Once your trunk is fully stuffed with all of your camp necessities, trunks that are 15 (let’s count ‘em!) inches or shorter can slide right under your bunk bed to become your own personal storage closet for the week! (Just try to keep everything around it organized before the Pit ‘n’ Palace fairies see!).

Let the fun of camp begin before your trunk even makes it to your cabin’s front porch! We’ve seen campers take their trunks to a whole new level with stickers, paint, sharpies, and/or glitter! Feel free to show off your creativity by making it your own. Missing home? The inside of your trunk is a perfect spot to tape pictures of your family, friends, or your pet lizard! Some campers even use their trunks as ebenezers or “passports” to showcase their time and lessons learned at Pine Cove, each summer adding a specific sticker to commemorate their week, or writing their future selves a note to hang onto! 

Durability 

These sturdy boxes are sure to last several years at camp—that means your trunk will see lots of road trips to camp, and plenty of bottom sides of bunks! If your trunk takes a tumble on the way home from camp, fear not! Plenty of places have affordable options for trunks such as Walmart or Academy so that you can keep the serious fun rolling! Speaking of rolling… pro tip: consider choosing a trunk that has wheels to make traveling even easier!
