More Details

More Nurse Details

Pine Cove hosts campers at different camp sites ranging in age from elementary to high school. Each of our sleepaway camps requires two onsite nurses each week.

Weekly nurses are responsible for:

  • administering scheduled and PRN medications to campers
  • managing illnesses for campers and staff
  • first aid and medical treatments/procedures for campers and staff
  • overall care of campers and staffers throughout the week

Every camp employs at least two college-aged summer staff health assistant. These are Christ-centered, high-quality, excited college students eager to minister the Gospel through health care. Being a camp nurse is an opportunity to also mentor these students, many of whom end up working in the medical field after graduation.

A weekly nurse shift begins on Sunday at 12:30pm and ends no later than 11:00 Saturday morning. Prior to arrival, weekly nurses will be sent a comprehensive nursing manual developed by Pine Cove for you to look over. This manual will also be reviewed at training on Sunday when you arrive. You are partnered with another nurse for the week in addition to our regional nurse managers, so there is always support and backup to call on.

Weekly nurses are housed inside the camp’s clinic, where they will have a bedroom and a shared nurse bathroom. All meals are provided. Nurses also get a 25% discount at the camp store.

Applicants must have an active nursing license and a minimum of one year of nursing experience. An RN license or higher is preferred.

Licensed Staff

Our talented medical team includes mid-level providers and more than 300 nurses during the summer in three states. Their focus is on making the summer medical experience as safe and smooth as possible.
