Nurses are an integral part of the ministry of Pine Cove, and we want you to join our team! Spending a week serving as a nurse at Pine Cove is an amazing opportunity to experience Pine Cove, care for campers, and invest in college-aged nurse assistants—all in a Christ-centered, others-focused, and seriously fun environment!
The benefits of serving as a camp nurse for a week extend beyond being in a seriously fun environment! Do you know a kid who should experience camp? You can make that happen with free camp for a kid AND still get paid. You’ll be surrounded by willing and cheerful health assistants who are eager to learn, care for campers and staff in a fully-equipped clinic, and stay on-site in nice living quarters. Add in the high-energy setting and Christ-centered mission and you have the prescription for the most memorable and meaningful week of the summer!
Pine Cove hosts campers at different camp sites ranging in age from elementary to high school. Each of our sleepaway camps requires two onsite nurses each week.
Weekly nurses are responsible for:
Every camp employs at least two college-aged summer staff health assistant. These are Christ-centered, high-quality, excited college students eager to minister the Gospel through health care. Being a camp nurse is an opportunity to also mentor these students, many of whom end up working in the medical field after graduation.
A weekly nurse shift begins on Sunday at 12:30pm and ends no later than 11:00 Saturday morning. Prior to arrival, weekly nurses will be sent a comprehensive nursing manual developed by Pine Cove for you to look over. This manual will also be reviewed at training on Sunday when you arrive. You are partnered with another nurse for the week in addition to our regional nurse managers, so there is always support and backup to call on.
Weekly nurses are housed inside the camp’s clinic, where they will have a bedroom and a shared nurse bathroom. All meals are provided. Nurses also get a 25% discount at the camp store.
Applicants must have an active nursing license and a minimum of one year of nursing experience. An RN license or higher is preferred.
Every camp has a health center to take care of basic medical needs, with off-site support quickly available for more extensive care.
“You can see how strong the counselors and nursing assistants are in their faith, how they love each and every child, and how they want the best for each wonderfully-made camper.”
